Back to Work

The first of the year, I returned to work. I'm working 4 days a week instead of 5, and August spends these days with Grandma and Grandpa, Daddy, or Auntie J*en, with Auntie K*ari helping out, too. And, of course, Cousin Zo*e. After a few weeks together, they are enjoying each other's company, and August has picked up her cousin's signature squeal.

Still, August is an introvert at heart and enjoys her quiet time with Daddy and Mommy on the weekends. When she grows up, she wants to be a techie nerd like her mommy.

August is a tough little nut and refuses to take a bottle. She might take an ounce if she's feeling especially tolerant. This has resulted in her starting to eat cereal. We started a little earlier than we expected, but she seemed ready, and went for the spoon right away. After a month of rice cereal, she's pretty bored with it, so soon we'll add some other things. Here are some photos of her first solid meal:

Our other exciting development is that August is able to sit up now! She balanced for the first time just before her 5 month birthday.

She's also rolled from tummy to back a couple times, but really isn't too interested in the rolling. Still, I wouldn't mess with her if I were you.....
